How Can a Salary of 32 Million BGN Be Explained?

BNT1 reached out to Nikolay Nikolov, Managing Director of New Career, for a comment:

"My comment is that the amount is not simply a mechanical division of 12 monthly salaries. At least 60% of it is likely a one-time bonus. The sum, of course, is significant, and only a handful of companies can afford to pay such compensation.

The good news is that the amount is fully transparent, with all taxes paid. While rare, this kind of remuneration is not unique—according to data from the National Revenue Agency (NRA), there are at least five more individuals with similar earnings in 2022 and 2023.

Such large sums are rarely paid by foreign companies, even to foreign top managers. It’s likely a case of a Bulgarian business compensating its own executive or a highly paid foreign manager. The payment reflects a major business success, significant reported profit, or a key achievement for the company."
